The Ime Obi Onitsha is pleased to announce that the Umatu Festival, the corn feast, will be held on Monday, 18 August 2025, at 2:00 PM at the palace arena.

Umatu is a sacred celebration of gratitude and abundance, led by His Majesty, the Obi of Onitsha, in the presence of red-cap chiefs, elders, and the entire Onitsha community. It is a time when tradition and feasting come together, with nni oka (maize meal) and ogbono sauce central to the celebration.

This year’s festival will be streamed live on the official Ime Obi Onitsha Facebook page at 2:00 PM, allowing all sons, daughters, and friends of Onitsha across the world to share in this moment of heritage.
